Just heartbroken

I am heartbroken at this senseless, mindless, unbelievable, felling of a a beautiful 300 year old iconic tree.  
As a lover of trees and someone who loves to walk in them grow them and study them I just cannot comprehend how someone can do something like this.

I have been pasted this tree so many times, in daylight, in darkness, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, it stood majestically on the rise, in a dip, perfectly placed.  It was something that was always there always standing proud and strong against everything that was thrown at it weatherwise.  I just cannot get my head around it will no longer be there.

Winner of Tree of the Year in 2016, it was loved by so many and holds special memories and significance to so many,
Hopefully it will be able to regrow from it's base as planned by the Northumberland National Parks .  There have been many offers of help and different ideas of how to preserve it only time will tell.
It will never be the same.
