About the brand​

Each unique product is handmade in the North East of England, near the beautiful city of Durham.

All products are durable and made to reuse time and time again.  Materials are sourced from a variety  of UK suppliers.

​Every attempt is made to keep packaging as environmental friendly as possible.  Orders are wrapped in tissue paper and packaged in a strong  natural kraft bag, which is environmentally friendly and can be used several times.  The Perch point of sale bands are made from Favini Crushed Corn and printed by a local printer.  

Meet the designer

​Ruth Jacobs is founder of Jacwicks Designs and designer of The Perch Range, as well a a variety of additional useful bag products, including Boot Bags and Christmas Gift Bags.
She lives in the North East of England, close to the beautiful city of Durham.
After many years in the corporate world, she is enjoying a more creative way of life.​​​
When she's not sewing or designing new products, she like to spend time walking in the countryside and by the sea.

January 2025 and Ruth was thrilled when the Pocket Perch, won the prestigious Gold Award for Best Product Home and Gifts 20252 category, at Scotland’s Trade Fair Spring 2025. 

The Pocket Perch, a versatile and eco-friendly outdoor seating solution, impressed judges with its unique design, combining functionality, sustainability, and style. Handmade from high-quality materials, the Pocket Perch is a comfortable, portable cushion that complements the growing emphasis on wellness and outdoor living, making it an ideal accompaniment for walkers and hikers, visitors to gardens, parks, and outdoor events, to name just a few.

The Perch Range

Jacwicks Designs is a small, proudly British brand creating a range of practical, beautifully made waterproof sit mats and picnic mats designed for life outdoors — and for those everyday moments where a little comfort makes all the difference.
The idea came about quite simply from real life. Founder Ruth Jacobs was out on a Nordic walk in the Northumberland countryside when she stopped for a rest… only to find herself sitting on a damp rock and spending the rest of the walk feeling cold and uncomfortable. Realising there wasn’t a suitable waterproof sit mat or compact picnic blanket on the market that was both practical and easy to carry, she decided to create her own — and from that moment, the Perch range was born.
The Perch Range :
The single person Pixy and Pocket Perches can fit into a pocket or small bags and weigh less than an average mobile phone. They open up to a full cushion size, large enough to protect bottoms from damp, dirty and dusty seating.

• The Poly Perch can sit up to 2 people and comes with a handy loop for hooking with a carabiner clip to secure on rucksacks. 
• The Pet Perch can be used for your fur baby to sit on when out and about, in the car, or home.  It keeps surfaces free from damp, dirty paws and is warm a comfy to nestle on.
• The Picnic Perch is the perfect alternative to a weighty picnic blanket and seats up to 4 comfortably, with two handles for ease of carrying.

All products ordered via the website are handmade to order, some have short runs of individual cover designs which increases the uniqueness of each run, once they're gone, they're gone.
Since founding in 2018 the Perch Range has gone from strength the strength.  With sales across the Globe, from New Zealand to up Mount Kilimanjaro, UAE to Italy.  And won rave reviews in magazines: Country Walking, Walk, and Trail.
